The residents committee has registered the Astra for the Cancer Council’s annual event to raise funds for those affected by cancer. We will be holding Astra’s Biggest Afternoon Tea on May 27th to raise funds and contribute to this fantastic cause. There is a link on our Facebook page to donate or share with your friends. Casino Royale! Join us in the lounge for a fun afternoon of games, prizes, nibbles & bubbly! We will have roulette, black jack and poker. Happy New Year to one and all! Bondi Beach Astra will be celebrating this new year with a bring and share dinner for residents, friends and family. Everyone is welcome. What a great place to see in the new year!
Join us for a magical evening exploring some of the city’s most iconic Christmas displays. The bus will depart the Astra at 6.00 pm and head to the city, stopping at the QVB, Pitt Street Mall, Martin Place and St Mary’s Cathedral. $15 per head, RSVP to the office by Thursday 14th December.
Please join us for our annual Christmas event, where we have a lovely dinner followed by plenty of desserts, drinks and dancing. We will meet in the lounge at 5pm to have a pre-dinner drink, and then head to the Bondi Tratt for a beautiful Christmas meal of turkey and ham with all the trimmings. After dinner the Residents’ Committee will start up a fabulous playlist to see us through dessert, the lucky door prizes and beyond. Put on your dancing shoes and prepare for a touch of Christmas sparkle in 2023…

After seven years, Anna has decided to finish her studies and pursue a career in graphic design, sadly this means she will no longer be working at the Astra ☹
Anna has been an integral part of the Astra over the years and has made a lasting impact on residents and staff alike. Her creativity and ingenuity have been showcased at the many events and activities she has organised. And her kind nature has been reflected in the smiles of the residents who have grown to cherish her.

We are organising a bus trip to Birkenhead Point for a little bit of Christmas shopping. All participants need to be registered with Randwick Waverley Community Transport, and must have signed up at the office prior to going on the trip. Cost $15 for those not eligible for a home care package.
Breaking news… our very own Len “the Pen”, former journalist extraordinaire, promises not to let the facts interfere with a good story when he talks to us about his life and work! Come and join us for a cuppa and a biscuit as we listen to his story. All are welcome, but please let us know if you are coming by Friday 17th November.

It’s that time of year again folks and we are off to the races…figuratively, at least. We will have our annual Melbourne Cup lunch, with sweeps and lots of race-day excitement, followed by a viewing of the race itself.
